Most distilleries today are owned by large companies, and of those companies a large percentage are foreign. In Tomatin’s case they were the first distillery to be owned by a Japanese company back in 1986. Although a large quantity of their spirit goes into blending, Tomatin have a massive single malt presence thanks to their high quality wood policy which includes a large amount of first fill casks alongside many experimental wine cask finishes.
