DISTILLERIES OF SCOTLAND

Glenlivet Distillery

Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Region

Speyside

Owner

Pernod Ricard

Founded

1824 | George Smith

Glenlivet was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to be licensed following the 1823 Excise Act. The founder George Smith was a farmer and illicit distiller at the time and this didn’t make him the most popular man in town, in fact he famously carried a pair of pistols incase of any attack. Glenlivet has been making light sweet and fruity whisky since its inception and this flavour is synonymous with the region.
